Utah Jazz Takedown Mavericks With Fourth Quarter Surge

Keyonte George Utah Jazz vs. Mavericks...

SALT LAKE CITY – Lauri Markkanen was consistent, and Keyonte George became the finisher for the Utah Jazz in a thrilling 116-114 win over the Dallas Mavericks.

The Jazz (13-24, 13th in West) return home from a winless road trip to host the Mavericks (14-24, 11th in West) at Delta Center on Thursday, January 8.

Markkanen finished with a game-high 33 points, leading five Jazz players in double-figure scoring.

George and Brice Sensabaugh combined for 33 points on 14-of-24 shooting, showing a potential backcourt duo.

Cooper Flagg led Dallas with 26 points and ten rebounds in the loss.

First Quarter

Anthony Davis, a player often heard in trade rumors with the deadline less than a month away, scored four quick points as Dallas built an 8-3 lead to begin the night.

Cody Williams made his first start of the season and used the opportunity to throw down consecutive alley-oop dunks to give his team a 16-13 lead.

Williams has six points in the early going.

Utah shot 58 percent in the opening quarter, but allowed the Mavs to hit 54 percent of their looks, taking a 34-29 lead after one.

A balanced attack saw Markkanen lead the team with seven points, followed by six from Cody Williams. George and Brice Sensabaugh scored five points each.

Cooper Flagg led all scorers with ten points.

Second Quarter

Veteran center Kevin Love returned to the floor to open the period after appearing limited early in the night.

Another vet, seldom-used Kyle Anderson, entered the lineup late in the first period. He remained in the lineup to open the second period.
