Both sides will be looking to secure valuable points to improve their position in the standings. We build up to kick-off with our Match Preview.
LATEST FROM MILANELLO
Two consecutive draws for the Rossoneri, who arrive at the Sinigaglia coming off 1-1 results against Genoa and Fiorentina. In these two matches, the team’s spirit has stood out, as on both occasions they managed to come back into the game to avoid defeat and extend their unbeaten run in the league, now at 18 matches. In Como, without the injured Gimenez and Pavlović, the team will look to rediscover a victory that has been missing since the away match in Cagliari on 2 January. After being rested in Florence, Luka Modrić is likely to return to the starting lineup, while in attack there are four players competing for two spots: Leão, Füllkrug, Nkunku and Pulisic. Fofana is one booking away from suspension, while Tomori returns after serving his ban.
Allegri spoke on the eve of the match: “Fàbregas is doing a great job at Como, he’s got some very good players, they’re a difficult team to play against, they press a lot and play well. They deserve all the praise they get. In terms of ourselves, we have to go there with the intention of getting the three points. It’s really difficult playing against them, they’re first in the league for possession and have the best defence”.
LATEST FROM COMO
Como recently drew 1-1 against Bologna in their latest Serie A match, scoring in the 94th minute through Baturina. Fàbregas’ side, the best defence in the league, are difficult to beat, especially at home, where they remain unbeaten this season. On the back of a run of positive results, the Lariani will look to continue their good form and put Milan under pressure. The clash against the Rossoneri represents an opportunity for Como to prove their worth. Nico Paz is one booking away from suspension, while Addai, Diao, Goldaniga and Morata are injured.
The Lariani’s Coach spoke on the eve of the match: “We will need to put in a good performance, to keep growing, it’s very important for us. AC Milan have some impressive players but we will have to be at our best to get the win”.
- AC Milan are unbeaten in their last 13 Serie A matches against Como (8 wins, 5 draws), with a goal record of 22-6. The Lariani’s last victory over the Rossoneri in the top flight dates back to 13 January 1985 (2-0 at the Meazza, with goals from Gianfranco Matteoli and Pasquale Bruno).
- AC Milan have won all of their last four Serie A matches against Como and have never recorded five consecutive victories against the Lariani in the top flight (they also won four in a row between 1951 and 1952).
- Christopher Nkunku has been involved in four goals (three goals, one assist) in his last three Serie A matches, after providing just one assist in his previous ten appearances. In 13 top-flight games, Nkunku has already matched his entire goal and assist tally (3 goals + 2 assists) from last season in the Premier League with Chelsea, achieved over 27 matches.
