Picks for 3-Point Contest, Slam Dunk, Shooting Stars
You know what time it is, it’s NBA All-Star Weekend, when the prices are high and the effort is low. However, there are still plenty of fun, overly complicated events with a plethora of outcomes to wager on, and we are going to help you sort through all of your options for tonight.
Let’s get into our NBA All-Star Saturday predictions, and picks for Saturday, February 14.
NBA All-Star Saturday Predictions, Picks
3-Point Contest Picks: First Round Score & Contest Winner Bets
First Round Score Over 21.5 (-120) / To Win 3-Point Contest (+1000)
By Joe Dellera
Norman Powell was one of the favorites in this event last year, but struggled in his 3-Point Contest debut.
I think having a year to prepare and understand the ins-and-outs of the competition will be important for him.
Understanding the cadence along with knowing where to put the money-ball rack are two things where experience truly matters.
Powell is a sniper from beyond the arc and is nearly a 40% shooter from 3-point range on significant volume.
I expect him to have a bounce-back performance tonight.
Pick: First Round Score Over 21.5 (-120) / To Win 3-Point Contest (+1000)
Slam Dunk Contest Best Bet: Jase Richardson
Jase Richardson to Win Dunk Contest (+500)
By Alex Hinton
The 49th NBA Slam Dunk Contest takes place in Los Angeles this weekend.
While this one does not have many notable names once again, there is one last-name that sticks out.
Jase Richardson is the son of Jason Richardson, a three-time Dunk Contest participant, two-time champion, and widely regarded as one of the greatest dunkers of all-time.
Jase does not have his father’s height. That would be younger brother Jaxon, a five-star recruit in the 2026 recruiting class and possibly another future dunk contest participant.
As the shortest participant among this year’s group, that may be one reason that Richardson faces the longest odds in this event in addition to his limited opportunities in Orlando this season.
However, the apple did not fall far from the tree with Jase.
With a 38-inch vertical, Richardson may surprise some people this year, and he may have a few judges on his side.
This year’s judges panel includes Nate Robinson, a two-time Slam Dunk Contest champion and the second-shortest winner ever, and Dwight Howard, a former teammate of his father.
With all the unknowns in this year’s field, I will be taking a flyer on Richardson as the long shot.
Pick: Jase Richardson to Win Dunk Contest (+500)
Shooting Stars Betting Prediction: Team Harper
Team Harper to Win Shooting Stars (+425)
By Matt Moore
I was hoping to find some sort of sneaky underrated team, and there is one — but man, is it hard to bet.
The Harper family has a surprisingly good profile for the Shooting Stars competition.
Derek Harper Jr. is a sneaky good shooter when you look at his G-League stats. Dylan has little-to-nothing to prove. He has the range.
However, their father is 64-years-old.
But, at the longest odds for a small sample shooting competition, and with the raw talent here, getting Team Harper at +425 feels like decent value.
Pick: Team Harper to Win Shooting Stars (+425)
3-Point Contest Best Bet: Donovan Mitchell
Donovan Mitchell to Win 3-Point Contest (+750)
By Matt Moore
Each of the last five winners of the 3-Point Contest have been lottery picks.
Donovan Mitchell went 13th. So did former winners Tyler Herro and Devin Booker.
Mitchell is the same size (6’3″) as several other winners.
He leads the NBA in 3-pointers made this season. He’s made the 8th-most shots from logo-range in the past three seasons, and he’s shooting 41 percent on hand-off shots per Synergy Sports — which is key in this competition.
Pick: Donovan Mitchell to Win 3-Point Contest (+750)
Slam Dunk Contest Betting Prediction: Keshad Johnson
Keshad Johnson to Win Dunk Contest (+360)
By Michael Arinze
It’s tough to refrain from betting on Jase Richardson in this event, given the fact that his dad is a 2-time dunk contest winner.
However, I do think Keshad Johnson is the best dunker of this group.
Johnson can show off his power or grace in this event.
There’s just something about the overall look of Johnson’s finishing style, I think he’s primed to win the dunk contest tonight.
Pick: Keshad Johnson to Win Dunk Contest (+360)
